Twenty-seven
[Audio; backdated......a while. Not long after Fourth Wall Day.]
Some time ago, when I was travelling on a more....mundane ship than this, the crew arranged a weekly music night - a time for those who wished to perform, and for those who wished to listen, dance, or simply reflect on the week gone by. On a long voyage that we spent in pursuit of an elusive goal, I believe it helped us to feel that we were not so alone. That our lives still went on beyond the tasks we had been charged with.
And so to the Barge! As best I can tell, we have a number of talented musicians on board, and the library provides no shortage of sheet music. I was hoping to learn if anyone could be persuaded to share their gifts with others here, or to come and listen. Or dance! I am sure the Barge is concealing many excellent dancers. Not a performance, just something social.
One night a week - the deck may be best. I think which night will have to change often, subject as it would be to the whims of the Barge, but I believe it would be manageable.
I will brace myself in readiness for your opinions.

Training with a martial arts master, you say? [YES HE SAW THAT.]

That's right, I'm Eddie. Nice to meet you, Mr?

My name is Iroh. We may have met briefly at breakfast - I supervise the morning shift in the kitchen.
no subject
Ah, I remember you now. Who decides who supervises shifts of things? Is it really just whoever wants to?
Oh, and your decent supply of bacon was appreciated.
no subject
And you're quite welcome. Jane mentioned bacon as well, is it a...rare commodity, in your world?
no subject
It's a well known fact that, usually, the Greys eat all the bacon, that's all.
no subject
Greys? [Oh no wait he's got this.] These are....people without colour perception?
no subject
Yes, they are. Or very low colour perception.
no subject
May I ask, how did your people come to order yourselves in this way? Are there particular abilities granted by high perception besides the thing itself, or...?
no subject
It happened after the Epiphany. I'm not entirely sure, that's what I'm trying to find out. High perception gives you social status, as does the colour you see. I'm a Prefect because I can see a high percentage of Red, for example. And the highest perceptor of Purple is the Head Prefect, usually.
Greys... generally do most of the actual hard work.
